Week 39

Week 39I am a bit bummed and forgot to take a 39 week photo but my mom did snap this picture on Easter, the last night I was pregnant.
Week 39 LetterHow far along?
39 weeks

Total weight gain/loss:  35 pounds, more than I thought I’d gain..

Maternity clothes? Yoga pants, Ben’s shirts, Ben’s pajama bottoms and my work shirt… that is my wardrobe! When I go out in public my options are a dress with leggings.. yup, my wardrobe is quite limited at this point.

Sleep: Still can’t really complain. Good night, not so good nights and very little sleep nights are all a possibility at this point. I did sneak in a few naps this week though so life is good.

Best moment this week: I was thrown a surprise baby shower at work. The kids made group cards on large pieces of paper and I received a few gifts from my staff. The kids loved on the bump giving the baby hugs, tickling baby and trying to find baby’s butt (they were successful!). Of course, baby slept through the party despite the children’s best efforts to wake baby up.

Movement: Baby is most active after my daily half glass of orange juice and in the evenings as I am settling in for the night. <——– same as the last few weeks

Food cravings: Still craving sugary treats and carbs, both of which I am doing my best to cut out in the past two weeks. I would give up chocolate for three days (whoa!) if I could have a bowl of rice right now! Few more weeks..

Gender: Ben and I have both agreed that this is the part we are most excited for, to figure out if we have a son or daughter!

Belly Button in or out? Flat…gross..

What I miss: My normal self. I love being pregnant but I do miss my wardrobe, my shoes (I only wear ones I can put on by myself… so slip on ones), and being able to play with the kids at work.

What I am looking forward to: Seeing my family this weekend. They are coming down for my mom’s Spring Break with hopes of meeting their grandbaby. We will get to celebrate Easter together! I’m also looking forward to Spring Break/maternity leave. I am officially done with work and look forward to some time of rest and relaxation before baby arrives.

Milestones: On Wednesday, Ben and I went for a walk and we snuck away to a nearby cemetery that we often walk through. While we were there Ben challenged me to some intense fast walking and at one point we were (I was…Ben was fast walking..) sprinting through the cemetery. I called it sprinting, others may have called it waddling quickly, but the result was the same. Some extra intense Braxon Hicks contractions and a giggly mom and dad-to-be.  I’m thankful for the beautiful weather coming our way after all the snow/rain/hail/sleet we experienced this week.

Week 38

Week 38Week 38 Letter

How far along?  38 weeks

Total weight gain/loss:  34 pounds… ouch..

Maternity clothes? I pretty much live for comfort these days. At home I live in my pajama pants and Ben’s shirts (and the few medium shirts that I have). Out of the house I live in yoga pants and my work shirt or one of the few pregnancy shirts that still cover my belly. Putting on yoga pants actually makes me feel like I am dressing up! I tried to wear a normal pair of pants and my belly band – half way through work I got so sick because they were constricting my belly too much. Yup, yoga pants from here on out.

Sleep: Still sleeping quite well considering I’m huge and constantly having to use the bathroom. Some nights I am up for a few hours but I go to bed early and still try to get as much sleep as possible.

Best moment this week: Having our home visit with our midwife! Found out lots of good information on my body; how it will likely handle delivery and how my body is progressing. More details than you probably care to know but I want to document the details since this is my virtual scrapbook. I’m currently 75% effaced and 1 cm dilated  This doesn’t necessarily mean that baby is coming any time soon but it does mean my body is preparing for baby so yeah!

Movement: Baby is most active after my daily half glass of orange juice and in the evenings as I am settling in for the night.

Food cravings: Not much this week. Been craving sugary treats more so I’ve been trying to find better ways to satisfy my sugar cravings like eating an apple with some peanut butter.

Gender: I’m getting super antsy and for the first time really just want to know! I made a voting chart for the kids at school to cast their vote. When I left on Friday boy was in the lead!

Belly Button in or out? Flat…

What I miss: Warm winter clothing that fits! Only one coat has fit me for most of the winter and that one barely fits. The wind goes right under my coat, my coat won’t button up if I wear a scarf and my button holes are so stretched out that the wind whips through there as well. We’ve had a few cold days this week and I was freezing on the playground.

What I am looking forward to: Putting the finishing touches on the nursery and posting pictures of the nursery here on the blog!

Milestones: Like I mentioned above, my body is slowly preparing for our little one which is quite the milestone. Daddy and I keep preparing for our little one; our house is cleaning and more organized every day, we are educating ourselves more and more everyday and the baby to do list gets smaller with each passing day. We are ready!

Here is a picture of my baby daddy and I going out on our last date night before you make an appearance! Daddy brought us to The Derby Station where we ate a ton of delicious food then the date night continued with renting The Hobbit and snuggling in bed.
Last Date NightHere is an better glimpse at the basketball that hides under my shirt!

Week 37

Week 37 photoWeek 37
How far along?
37 weeks

Total weight gain/loss:  yup, not in the mood to talk about weight gain…

Maternity clothes? Same old same old. This week we had a significant drop in the temperature and I realized how big my belly has gotten in the last month. The weather has been nicer and with the winter temperatures returning I realized how much of a gap could be found under my coat and my poor belly was freezing outside!

Sleep: The week started off well – but the last few nights have been a struggle. I honestly think a large portion is stress related. I’m hoping to have a really productive few days to relieve this stress and see if that helps. Otherwise I spend about half of my night wide awake/trying to fall back asleep.

Best moment this week: Finding out that baby is in the best position possible for birth and now my job is to help baby move down. The phrase locked and loaded is running through my head all the time. Another great moment was getting a homemade blanket from someone I work with the grant. His wife made me our little one a gorgeous blanket and it was a wonderful surprise!

Movement: Baby wasn’t moving too much for most of the week and I was feeling quite sad. But all of a sudden baby is moving a ton more and is back to normal as of two days ago! Yeah! I love these movements!

Food cravings: The usual.. chocolate (that is a non-pregnancy non-stop craving!) and OJ!

Gender: I’m running out of old wive’s tales… I am hoping to get more votes here to see what you think!! We are at 50/50! www.whatsinmybelly.com/532 Vote here! Pretty please.

Belly Button in or out? This belly button just keeps getting creepier.. now it is just flat… strange.. not in, not out.. just flat..

What I miss: Doing dishes for more than three minutes without some serious back pain. Maybe this means I shouldn’t do dishes anymore.. haha. Ben does 90% of them and I typically do a small load in the middle of the day and that’s it.

What I am looking forward to: Putting the car seat base in the Escape and having our home visit with our midwife on Wednesday! I’m also super excited for daddy to go get the rest of baby’s furniture – a night stand that will go next to the rocking chair and a toy/book storage solution! By the end of the weekend all baby’s furniture will be in place!

Milestones: This baby is full-term!!!! Baby won’t likely make his/her appearance for another month but it is so wonderful knowing our baby will likely be completely healthy if they are born RIGHT NOW! We are in no rush to hurry along to the next step but we can not wait until the moment you are in our arms for the first time. We can’t wait to kiss you, snuggle with you and see your beautiful face!

And because I love this photo, here is the same photo that appeared above without the letter to baby!

Eating baby at 37 weeks

Week 36

Week 36
Week 36 Letter
How far along?
36 weeks

Total weight gain/loss:  30 pounds, my midwife is happy with how much I’ve gained in the last month. She said from here on out I’ll probably gain about a pound a week.

Maternity clothes? I feel like my belly isn’t growing as much, or maybe my belly is growing differently, but I’m still wearing the same clothes as I have been throughout most of my pregnancy.

Sleep: Still doing quite well in this department. Better than I’d expect at this point.

Best moment this week: Being stopped by a stranger who told me I look fantastic. Having two moms at work just realize I am pregnant and telling me I carry the pregnancy so well. These are the comments I really needed to hear this week as I am starting to get uncomfortable and feeling quite huge. I did have the custodian tell me I look exhausted this week.. that comment wasn’t so helpful.. Another fun moment was one of the kids was rubbing my belly and baby gave her a GOOD kick! Another awesome moment for me this week was I wore my boots to church, my boots have quite the heel on them and I was impressed I could still fit in them and walk in them at this point!

Movement: Baby is still moving and grooving in there! I know baby will be too cramped to do much moving as the weeks go on so I’m really taking in these moments now.

Food cravings: Not much this week… I was really wanting some chocolate for over a week and we didn’t have any. Ben surprised me twice this week once by bringing me home a mint chocolate shake from Arby’s and another time by stopping at a grocery store that has the most amazing gourmet cupcakes. He told me to pick one out and a I picked out a mint chocolate cupcake that had the most amazing chocolately filling inside!

Gender: Baby’s heart rate has been over 150 throughout this pregnancy which says girl!

Belly Button in or out? Out!

What I miss: Again, not a lot. Pregnancy has become a way a life. I feel like I’ve been pregnant for so long and I’ve enjoyed it so much that I don’t really miss much. Seeing the Easter decorations, smelling the “spring” air and watching the snow melt as the grass turns green – I am dreaming of summer and sipping wine on the porch with the baby monitor next to us.

What I am looking forward to: Another appointment with my midwife on Wednesday and then reaching 36 weeks. At 36 weeks I got into labor prepping mode – taking extra supplements, upping my red raspberry leaf tea intake and making sure baby stays head down!

Milestones: The countdown is ON! I will now see my midwife every Wednesday. I will up my Raspberry Leaf tea from one cup a day to three cups a day to make sure my uterus works more efficiently. I am also adding Evening Primrose Oil to improve the elasticity of skin (reduces risk of tearing), regulate hormones and may also shorten labor. This means the end is near!

How far along?
35 weeks

Total weight gain/loss:  29 pounds (thankfully my weight gain has slowed down big time!)

Maternity clothes? Since I work from home I mostly live in my hubby’s shirts and yoga pants. I can still fit in quite a few of my long sleeve t-shirts but my belly sometimes plays peek-a-boo.

Sleep: No complaints! Okay well, one complaint. I am missing snuggling with my hubby.

Best moment this week: Realizing I only need one hand to show how many weeks til baby’s due date!

Movement: This baby is not slowing down!! Baby is almost constantly moving in the morning, evening and into the night. Ben and I are always guessing what body part we are feeling moving around.

Food cravings: Same old same old. OJ, chocolate chips and peanut butter and fried foods. Only indulging in the OJ though.

Gender: Another old wive’s tale says that if you have soft hands, baby is a girl. One of my staff members grabbed my hand the other day and couldn’t believe how soft my hands were. I maybe put lotion on maybe few times a week when I used to put lotion on multiple times a day!

Belly Button in or out? Noticed some lovely little tiger stripes under that creepy little outie making my outie look even funnier.

What I miss: Not much this week. I’m really taking in this moment because I know there isn’t much time left before baby arrives!

What I am looking forward to: Another appointment with my midwife on Wednesday and then reaching 36 weeks. At 36 weeks I got into labor prepping mode – taking extra supplements, upping my red raspberry leaf tea intake and making sure baby stays head down!

Milestones: I am far enough along now that our midwife will deliver our baby at home if I went into labor right now!! That is a huge milestone!! This is the one I was really hoping to reach!

Week 35.5

Week 33 and Week 34

Week 34 Collage(week 33 flew by and I didn’t remember to take a picture)

Week 33

How far along?  33 weeks

Total weight gain/loss:  28 pounds

Maternity clothes? I have a number of maternity shirts and quite a few dresses that I wear quite frequently.

Sleep: Still sleeping quite well. It is SUCH a blessing!

Best moment this week: Sweet baby hiccups, love them!

Movement: Baby is still always moving around!! It is a feeling that NEVER gets old! I don’t even mind the occasional rib jabs.

Food cravings: Loving peanut butter and chocolate chips lately! Mix them together… mmmmm good!

Gender: Ben had a dream that I gave birth to a baby girl.

Belly Button in or out? Outie… creepy little outie…

What I miss: I’m starting to get to the point where I am just ready to meet our little one and ready to get back to my normal body. I love being pregnant but I’m ready to snuggle with my hubby in bed, bend down to tie kid’s shoes, bend down to tie my own shoes, etc.

What I am looking forward to: Showing off my bump in a week to some family members I haven’t seen at all this pregnancy!

Milestones: Honestly just reaching 33 weeks is such a milestone. Baby’s lungs are getting stronger each day and I’m feeling more confident that our little one will be healthy when he/she is born.

Week 34

Week 34 Letter

How far along?  34 weeks

Total weight gain/loss:  29 pounds… ouch

Maternity clothes? Same old same old

Sleep: Still sleeping quite well. I get up often (after some moaning and groaning as I get myself out of bed) to use the bathroom but I fall asleep right after laying down.

Best moment this week: Continue to feel our little one moving around. I know baby is running out of space and the movements will slow down so I am cherishing them while I can!

Movement: Baby is still head down but does continue to shift around in my belly. Sometimes baby’s feet/hands are on the right side of my belly and other times the left.

Food cravings: I could live off of Orange Juice, chocolate chips and peanut butter and shrimp.

Gender: Another old wive’s tale says if you dream about one sex, you will have the other. Last week Ben dreamed we had a girl so does that mean we are having a boy?

Belly Button in or out? Will my outie ever be an innie again?

What I miss: I am an independent person and don’t like to accept help. Unfortunately at this point I’ve accepted that I really do need to accept help from time to time. A parent waited for me to leave work this week and offered her arm to me so I didn’t slip. I did take her arm.. I miss being independent.

What I am looking forward to: Being home with my family!

Milestones: Surviving a long car ride traveling hundreds of miles to visit my family.

Week 31 & Week 32

Week 31

Week 31 Letter

I spent an evening making three chicken freezer meals for when baby arrives!

How far along?  31 weeks

Total weight gain/loss:  Yup… I don’t want to talk about it….

Maternity clothes? Still rocking the belly band and I am still able to wear a few non-maternity shirts. My belly is starting to hang out though.. haha

Sleep: Hit or miss. Overall I sleep much better than I did a few months back and considering how gigantic I am, I’m sleeping quite well!

Best moment this week: Realizing we could possibly be in the single digits!

Movement: I’m pretty sure baby is head down.. baby has hiccups frequently and the hiccups are very low.

Food cravings: Still loving Orange Juice.. that’s about it… oh and chocolate. But that is normal!

Gender: Half of you think girl, and the other half think boy! I want to see more predictions!  www.whatsinmybelly.com/532

Belly Button in or out? I wonder if this button will ever be the same!

What I miss: I’m constantly afraid of falling when I go outside.I only wear my boots when I leave the house. I’m looking forward to wearing all my shoes again!

What I am looking forward to: Hearing my sweet baby’s heartbeat in a week!

Milestones: Making it to 31 weeks is quite the milestone! God is good!

Week 32

Week 32 Letter

How far along?  32 weeks

Total weight gain/loss:  Still not ready to discuss my weight gain…. whoops…

Maternity clothes? Spending most of my days in yoga pants and Ben’s shirts. The only days I have to wear something other than my work clothes I usually grab a maternity dress and a pair of leggings.

Sleep: Sleeping quite well this week!

Best moment this week: One night I slept through the night without waking up! I was exhausted so that may have led to the good night’s sleep, but it was so nice to get so much interrupted sleep!

Movement: Baby is head down! Our little one has got some sweet moves, he/she is always wiggling their little booty and knocking against my ribs!

Food cravings: Nothing this week.

Gender: Still unknown but boy or girl, we are finally ready! We have settled on a baby name (and the spelling of the name)!

Belly Button in or out? This creepy thing is so out!

What I miss: Being able to get in my car without struggle.

What I am looking forward to: Showing off my big ole belly to my family in a few weeks!

Milestones: Another great midwife appointment. Baby and I are doing well!!
